An article titled Japans INPEX joins the nuclear fusion race with investments in start-ups was published on the Nihon Keizai Shimbun website on April 1, 2022, and later published in the morning edition of the newspaper on April 2, 2022. The article is not based on information announced by INPEX CORPORATION (INPEX).

On February 9, 2022, INPEX announced its long-term strategy and medium-term business plan (INPEX Vision @2022), outlining promoting carbon recycling and cultivating new business opportunities as one of 5 activities net zero of the company. As part of new business opportunities, INPEX launched the INPEX Challengers program, an internal business start-up program that encourages employees to explore, identify and pursue opportunities in new business areas.

INPEX is currently evaluating a wide range of business topics as part of the INPEX Challengers program. However, the topic of the article is one of multiple topics selected for evaluation under this program, and the company has not made any decision to invest in or pursue this business topic at this time.
